Welcome to Devoted
Devoted is an ongoing Bible study and prayer gathering that is designed to take us deeper into faith and relationship with Jesus by walking through the entire Bible together. Our gatherings are open to everyone (find out when and where). Our goal is to provide a place for learning, an environment to ask questions and meet new friends, and to grow in the knowledge and grace of Jesus (2 Peter 3:18). There is no pressure and no experience required! Our inspiration is the ancient biblical model of Christian community:
42 The disciples of Jesus devoted themselves to the apostles’ teaching and to fellowship, to the breaking of bread and to prayer. 43 Everyone was filled with awe at the many wonders and signs performed by the apostles. 44 All the believers were together and had everything in common. 45 They sold property and possessions to give to anyone who had need. 46 Every day they continued to meet together in the temple courts. They broke bread in their homes and ate together with glad and sincere hearts, 47 praising God and enjoying the favor of all the people. And the Lord added to their number daily those who were being saved.
~ Acts 2:42-47
The objective of each gathering is to explore the teachings of Bible, because we know that something amazing happens when people read Scripture together. Our ministry partners at The Bible Project have a great video describing this phenomenon and ancient practice:
There's no cost to join us, so come as often as you can. There's also no homework, unless you choose to follow our suggested daily readings. The only thing we ask of you is to simply show up! We promise not to embarrass you with any awkward questions. You can actively participate or just be still. Your choice. Either way, we're confident you'll take something away that will enrich your life as you learn more about the person and teachings of Jesus of Nazareth, and in so doing, strengthen your awareness and relationship with the God who created you and loves you.
Devoted is a place to recharge your soul during the week when Sunday morning "wears off" and the pressures of daily life begin to creep back in. Find out when and where we meet. We hope to see you soon!
